What Exactly I Do

Doing everything makes you a jack of all trades, master of none.

I’ve come to my profession honestly, and I’m pleased to say I’m one of the best SEO firms in Cincinnati. SEO (and the web development services that naturally go along with getting to the top of the search engines) is all I focus on. Though programming for SEO can be quite difficult, I like to keep things simple. I figure, being focused on each client’s results – and bottom line – is really my only task.

If you’re in needs of other digital marketing services, such as app building or managing email marketing campaigns, I’ll leave that to the many professionals who specialize in those area, and can make a referral, if you like.

My early years and how I got started.

Cincinnati SEO
My love for programming started before I entered my teens. Actually, in elementary school. I was fortunate to live in the small town of Golden Valley, Arizona (two hours from Las Vegas and 30 minutes from Kingman, to give you an idea.) Golden Valley was so small it didn’t have an elementary school. So, my parents home schooled me. (I had moved to Arizona while still a toddler because I needed a drier climate to stay healthy.)

In those early days, my parents passed on their knowledge of and enthusiasm for programming. Unlike my peers, I was learning GW Basic and other programming languages at 9 and 10. By the time I was twelve, I had written a computer program all on my own. It was a simple calculator, but to me it was my greatest achievement so far.

Where my love of being a nerd came from.

I continued in my programming studies as a teen, teaching myself everything I could grasp. I played computer games, but also studied them. I learned about file directories, command prompts and later, web interfaces. When the web first became accessible, I started to help perfect my friends’ MySpace pages. Nothing seemed beyond my reach. I was fast becoming a programming whiz.

Around 19 to 20, I began building affiliate marketing sites to make a little money from referrals and ad revenues.

It was in 2007, after building some websites for friends, that I was ready to launch my own company. In 2007, I opened what would become Joseph Stevenson (a Cincinnati SEO Firm), and really started to learn how to promote and position the websites I was building. SEO soon came of age as Google and other search engines began to “rule” which sites would get referred the most to the people looking for products and services on the Internet. Once again, I was intrigued and made it my goal to master the SEO craft.

I believe business should be earned, not expected.

Some of the other SEO firms in Cincinnati will tell you that they’ve mastered the craft. Not so. True, I am still learning; that’s one sign of a good SEO expert… the beginner’s mind. But, in managing SEO for my clients, I don’t play the games that other SEO firms in Cincinnati seem to play. One of these games is trapping you into a long-term SEO contract and then once you’ve signed, they outsource the bulk of the SEO work to another less expensive, less competent firm. Really their only intent seems to be a middleman, not do the work.

This may be because the actual work it takes to raise your search engines rankings is tough. It takes patience and it takes knowing how to apply the right mix of programming expertise, marketing strategy, copy writing excellence, and creativity. You see, I want to give you value for your money. I want to witness satisfaction in my clients’ eyes. I want to earn your trust.

If you don’t do things right, don’t do them at all.

I’ll tell you: the best way to see if a SEO “expert” truly is an expert is to look at the websites he/she has built and where they stand in the search engines this very minute. Another way to distinguish an honest, knowledgeable SEO firm from one that isn’t is to ask them exactly how they get you to the top of the search engines. Their answer will speak volumes.

The SEO process I’ve developed over the last 12 years in the Cincinnati market is proven to get results. And, I don’t mind sharing it:

1. Assess your current site. Improve the coding and content. Get the site ready for the increased traffic that good SEO will bring. Have your sales funnel in place.

2. Create and post high-quality content that supports the keyword terms we’ve chosen together that will get your ideal prospects interested in what you have to say and offer. These are blogs, press releases and social media posts that will be picked up by other site sand publications and shared all over the web. In turn, the search engines index this information and your rankings rise.

3. Repeat #2 over and over. To reach the top and stay there, you need consistency.

Any SEO firm in Cincinnati that tells you something much different from the above is trying to shortcut the process. They are likely to throw a lot of copy out on the web and get you some back links, and want to “call it good.” Simply stated, you’ll never see the results you need to compete on the web today if you fall for their antics.

I tell it to people straight. I deal honestly with my clients. It’s the way I was raised and the man I am. When you hire Joseph Stevenson Cincinnati SEO Consulting, you’re getting me setting the groundwork and then putting into motion the 3-step Cincinnati SEO process I’ve laid out to you here.

By the way, if you are here – reading this now – you got here because of my 3-step Cincinnati SEO process (unless you knew the name of my firm and searched by name rather than by a keyword.) I look forward to a discussion with you about how we can collaborate – and get your website to the top of Google and the other major search engines.
