What Exactly I Do

Doing everything makes you a jack of all trades, master of none.

SEO in Louisville is booming… for that matter, all across Kentucky. Entrepreneurs are now realizing that SEO must lead the way as you look at your marketing mix over the next year. Without having a solid SEO strategy to drive targeted prospects to your site, what you say on your site is irrelevant. But, once people can find you, your messages become oh so important.

As a SEO expert, I’d like to help drive your sales. Just a note… If you want a company that can handle all your online marketing – like social media, or creating an app, that’s really not what I do. I can’t be everything to everybody. I like to keep my actions and my day simple, and highly focused.

My early years and how I got started.

Louisville SEO
Have you ever heard of Golden Valley, Arizona? It sits way out in the desert about two hours from Vegas and just less than an hour from Kingman. I moved there when I was very young. My family had been living in Washington State where I had been really sick. The doctors suggested that a dry climate would be better for me. The decision they made to move to Golden Valley led to another key transit in my life.

Because our town was too far to drive to the nearest school in Kingman every day, I was home schooled by my parents. I learned the usual subjects, but my early lessons in programming have obviously stuck like glue through all these years. I now make a living for me and my family by designing websites and doing professional SEO for companies looking to increase sales. At only 12 years old, a basic calculator was my first foray into programming. I was hooked!

Where my love of being a nerd came from.

Now when I say I was hooked, I really meant it. The entire time I was growing up, it seemed like I was involved in a different kind of programming. First, it was creating and coding video games. Then I was drawn into the MySpace craze and started creating specialized accounts for some of my friends. I really took these little experiments to the next level in my 20s, when I launched a number of my own sites to make some money through affiliate marketing. It paid off.
In 2007, I decided to launch my Louisville SEO company, Joseph Stevenson. I took on my first official client that year… and haven’t looked back since. One thing that hasn’t changed throughout all of my adventures, though, is my commitment to being the best at what I do, and my respect for other people.

I believe business should be earned, not expected.

I have always been of the opinion that trust is an important aspect in any business relationship. I think this really gives me an advantage in the SEO business because I’ve found that some of the other Louisville SEO companies employ some common industry practices that tend to benefit themselves more than their clients. I’ve even been approached by big firms asking if I would do their work for them while they went out and got more deals. There’s no way I’m going to treat my clients that way.

I would encourage you to look closely at a company before deciding to hire them for your SEO needs. Try to avoid big contract purchases; that’s how they tend to rope you in. Instead, look at the quality of their work rather than just the price point. That will help you avoid getting into a bad situation. The bottom line… my clients’ SEO needs are paramount.

If you don’t do things right, don’t do them at all.

You may be wondering, “So, what are these less-than-honest practices that other SEO companies use?”

I know I got a little doom and gloom on you there, but there are a lot of SEO “specialists” out there that try to short cut work and use quick fixes with search engines. These methods do not work long term, and are damaging to a company’s reputation. If you don’t have a high quality site to begin with, or if it’s coded incorrectly, the site is going to fall in ranking just as fast as any short-term gains they made for you. Subside. Alternatively, I use the tried-and-true method of raising site ranking below.

In three steps:

1. Review the current site: As I said, we’ve got to get the site up to par before we raise the ranking. When more people visit your site, we want them to be impressed, not turned off. During this phase, we often change the we back end coding and rewrite some of your web copy.

2. Create awesome content: Content is king. I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase. In this case, it’s the lifeblood of the whole SEO process. As people pick up the content we create and distribute, both off and on site, the search engines pick up on this and raise your site ranking.

3. Repeat: Yes, Step 2 really is that important. It’s the key to the whole process. This can be a time consuming way to go, but any self-respecting Louisville SEO firm will inform you of the same realities I’m sharing with you right now. SEO is where my strengths lie, and my commitment is to give you good value for your money as opposed to utilizing industry shortcuts for my own benefit.
