What Exactly I Do

Doing everything makes you a jack of all trades, master of none.

I am a Philadelphia SEO and web development specialist. Businesses hire me to create custom sites, and optimize them for search engines so clients can find their page easily. For complicated programming needs, I can make a referral for you to some friends of mine, but programming work outside of websites is a bit too time consuming for me at the present time.

It’s important to me to save some time for myself too, and I’ve found I can serve both myself and my clients better if I focus on where my real talents lie. If you have other digital needs, I have a network of contacts which I can refer you for App Development, Email Blasts, etc. My goal is to connect you with a group of people who I know can do the best job for you so we can concentrate on your getting your site ranked higher on the search engines.

I’m looking forward to hearing about your marketing and sales goals! You can reach me here:

My early years and how I got started.

Philadelphia SEO
I was sick when I was young. Though doctors were stumped, my parents finally isolated the fact that humidity and my body just didn’t get along well. So, they moved my family from Washington State to Golden Valley, Arizona , where I was raised. It’s the driest place I know.

I was home schooled from elementary on, as the closest public school was 30 miles away in the town of Kingman. Even before I hit double digits, my parents introduced me to programming. They gave me a solid framework. By 6th grade, I knew GW Basic, and some other computer programming languages. I never knew as a child that my early experience – creating my first program when I was just 12 –would lead to a rewarding career in SEO many years later. Life is funny that way.

Where my love of being a nerd came from.

I continued to refine my programming skills after my successes as a teen. Video games became my next passion. But unlike many kids who play video games, I focused on building them, and exploring the “innards” of every program I could get my hands on. My side hobby was digging into the directories of games to find Easter eggs, codes, and other hidden messages. As the Internet became more widely used in society and business, I expanded to the web, programming MySpace pages for friends. After a short hiatus, I returned with a vengeance, this time running affiliate sites for myself which made money though advertising and offers for products.
By 2007, I was creating website for clients and offering SEO services to any business interested in improving their ranking on Google, and other search engines. Lead generation is an important part of the process, as you’d expect. I now operate in Philadelphia under the name: Joseph Stevenson (a Philadelphia SEO Firm). I stick with what works; I use the principles that I’ve refined over the years to boost your company’s website for the long-term.

I believe business should be earned, not expected.

My personal opinion about gaining business is to earn it, not expect it. With my type of business in particular, that being Philadelphia SEO, you really have to watch out for companies that offer package deals and year long contracts. A lot of the time after these companies sign the project, they outsource the work to other companies, and collect a fee as the middle man. I don’t run my business that way.

As far as hiring a Philadelphia SEO firm is concerned, you’ve really got to perform some due diligence. Look at each firm’s track record, testimonials, and their body of work. If you approach the process as a sleuth of sorts, you’ll get the the bottom of who’s legitimate and who is not. I’m not claiming to be the only SEO firm in Philadelphia. I am claiming to be one of the best. My belief is that my clients will see the value of what I offer and chat with my current customers… and choose my SEO firm over the others.

Philadelphia SEO

If you don’t do things right, don’t do them at all.

It’s not uncommon for a SEO business to churn through clients quickly, unconcerned with the quality of the work they are providing. On their part, this usually entails creating a few blog posts, site links, and whatever will look good on the surface. What’s more effective, especially long term, is to focus on high-quality SEO instead of volumes of busy work. Here is our time-tested 3-step process:

1. First, we must make sure that the quality of your site is evident. Other Philadelphia SEO companies will skip this step, instead attempting to use tricks to get Google to rank your site higher without looking at the quality of the site itself. We review the copy on the site, and tweak it until it looks good for all the visitors who will see it after applying our SEO approach.

2. After the first step is complete, we begin developing, posting, and distributing strategic content on your site, as well as off your site. Examples of this include Blog posts, Social Media, Press releases, and other content. The idea is to use this content to post regular updates to your site, which will also boost your ranking.

3. Repeat often and consistently, daily if possible. As your content is picked up, your ranking will skyrocket. This method works and it’s sustainable. Any SEO company hat tells you different doesn’t know any better, or is not giving you the whole picture.
