Ok this ones less about SEO strategy and more just a real conversation we had about how frustrating using the internet has become lately, and honestly we think alot of people will relate to this.
Ever try to look something up now, like a genuinely simple how to question, and instead of a quick answer you get a 20 minute youtube video where the first 18 minutes is the creator thanking there sponsors and building up suspense for a “trick” that never really needed to be a secret in the first place? Yeah, that’s basically the state of online content right now. Everyone’s optimizing for watch time and ad revenue instead of just, you know, answering the question.
It didnt use to be like this. There use to be a version of the internet where people would just post stuff to be helpful. Like hey, this problem took me 5 hours to figure out so here’s the answer so you dont have to waste your time too. No sponsors, no 5 minute intro, just the info. That version of the internet kind of feels like its dying, or dead already honestly.
The moment monetization got introduced to basically everything online, the incentives shifted. Now everyone’s making content to get views, not to genuinely help someone. Doesnt mean there isnt good stuff out there still, sometimes you find that one guy holding his phone sideways mumbling through a tutorial who clearly isnt doing it for views, and honestly that guy is usually the most trustworthy source in the whole search results page.
Then you throw AI into the mix and its just made everything messier. Search results are getting cluttered with AI written junk, AI overviews pulling from sketchy sources, its a whole thing (we’ll probably do a whole separate post just on that).
There’s also a generational piece to this. Alot of us grew up on a pretty unfiltered internet because are parents genuinely didnt understand what we were doing online. Now as parents ourselves, alot of us are way more careful about what our kids have access too, because we actually know what’s out there.
Anyway, no real solution here, just an observation that finding genuinely helpful, honest content online is getting harder, and its probably going to keep getting harder before it gets better. If you ever find one of those no nonsense creators who’s just trying to help, appreciate them, there a dying breed.
